War and International Business: Insights from Political Science

How might businesses foster peace? We borrow insights from political science on the causes of war to guide IB scholarly research. analyze as a bargaining failure and present five (unchecked authority, intangible incentives, uncertainty, commitment problems, misperceptions). then identify business-for-peace initiatives (modifying incentives for peace, ex-combatant demobilization reintegration, providing information, mediation track-two diplomacy, peace guarantees, community engagement) propose research questions each. Our work has important implications scholars conducting firms operating in conflict-prone environments.
